General information
“Sucre sol” is an independent artistic residence located in the heart of Barcelona, few minutes walk from famous Plaça de Catalunya.
The apartment offers 2 separate rooms equipped for work and comfort. One or two artists can be accommodated at Sucre Sol for any given period between 1 week and 3 moths. It is possible to bring companion to share room for small difference in fees.
Sharing the apartment can provide possible collaborations with other artists and other artistic disciplines.
Brief description of residency program:
We offer a great opportunity for a short term artist in residence program.
The concept of the project:
– To give an opportunity for collaboration of international artists.
-To stimulate creativity through direct contact with one of the most inspiring cities of the world.
-To deepen mutual understanding and cultural exchange with other residing creators.
We welcome all artistic disciplines and exchange of ideas between artists. Residents should have sufficient ability to communicate in English or Spanish. If possible, open studio, workshops and exhibitions are organized during or at the end of the residency.
Residency program since : 2011
Duration of residency: From one week to 3 months
Companion allowed with a small difference in fees
Working language: English and/or Spanish
Accommodation: 2 Private rooms, shared apartment (shared bathroom and kitchen).
Type of studios: Live-work space
How to reach “Sucre sol”: from Barcelona airport take the Aerobus to Plaça de la Universitat
Fees and application:
– Basic fees paid by artist cover: accommodation (including electricity, water, gas, wifi internet, towels, bed sheets and cleaning services).
-Grants are not available at this moment. All expenses are paid by artist.
-The artist is responsible for his living expenses as well as their travel costs to Barcelona, and for arranging his health insurance during their stay in Spain.
-The artist is responsible for any and all loss or damage of property during their stay at “Sucre Sol” residence.
Application should include:
– A resume in English (pdf maximum 1 page A4)
– up to 10 pictures of previous artwork or link to website
-Period of your stay (with alternative dates)
-Spoken languages
Application will be judged on the basis of CVs and portfolios submitted by international artists committee.
